I'm brand new to pilates. Where do I start?

Everybody's different! There's no one right answer . . .

Lots of people choose to start with a 1-1 session with Hazel first. These are 30 minute sessions where you learn some key basics to set you up for a class. You will get a video of the exercises you learn to practice at home. These sessions are £30 for 30 minutes and you will need a mat. To book a 1-1 session, email hazel@pilateswithhazel.co.uk

If you prefer and you have no major injuries, you could try a Level 1, 2 & 3 or Level 1 & 2 class. These are mat classes. 

If you don't fancy getting down onto the mat, a chair pilates class could be perfect for you. 

What is the difference between a course and a package?

There are 3 ways you can buy classes. 

a) Buy a single class for £10.

b) Buy a package of 7 flexible classes, equivalent of £9 each. Valid for 3 months. This package gives you 7 classes to choose any classes to suit you. You can pick and choose any classes from the timetable to use your 7 credits and do different classes each week. This often suits people working shifts or who don't have the time commitment to do a class every week at the same time. Select your preferred class from the schedule, and click 'book' to use your package credits. 

c) Buy a course, equivalent of £8 per class. By booking a course, you have a space in the same class every week for the duration of the course. These are usually 6 or 7 weeks, depending on bank holidays dates. If there are spaces, you can book a course half way through a term, as the price of the course is discounted week by week*

*The system currently does not do this automatically, so there may sometimes be a delay whilst it is manually updated - please get in touch if you want to book half way through the course but the price has not been discounted by the correct number of sessions as this is easily rectified. 

I can't make one of the classes on the course. Can I swap that class?

Yes. Once you have booked your course, you can swap and re-arrange as many sessions as you like. 

For any class you wish to cancel, select the date from the schedule (at least 24 hours before the class is due to start) and click 'cancel booking'. This puts a class credit onto your account which lasts 1 month. Use this credit to book any other class. 

When you cancel a class, your class credits are not redeemable against any other purchases/equipment or towards future courses, and are only valid to be used against pilates classes within the current course.

What do I need to bring or have ready?

You need to have your own mat, and a small towel to place under your head. 

Wear comfortable clothing you can move easily in (no zips or belts, and if possible no hoods). Most people prefer to work out in socks (not shoes) but if you would prefer to keep your trainers on, that is fine. 

If you are joining the session from home, ensure you have around 3 metres x 3 metres clear space, be aware of light fittings overhead and position your camera to see the whole of your mat. 

Can I book a private class?

Yes. Private sessions are £30 for half an hour and can be arranged by emailing Hazel at hazel@pilateswithhazel.co.uk. Duets are £15 each for half an hour, if you'd like to share your session with a friend.

I've booked a class which I thought was in-person at a venue. Why do I have a zoom link?

Because you can choose to come to the venue, or to zoom into your session. It's your choice!

Hazel takes a laptop to each of the pilates classes at the hall. So for example, if someone is self-isolating that week, they can still join the session. 

In fact, some people prefer to zoom in to the session as it's easier to fit around work or childcare, or they live too far away to join the session. 

If you usually come to the venue but decide to zoom in, please send Hazel a text on 07834 207 821 to let her know. 

I want to join a class that's fully booked. Do you have a waiting list?

Yes. If the class you would like to attend is fully booked, add yourself to the waiting list. Then, if someone cancels, anyone who is on the waiting list will get an email to notify you that a space has become available. If you'd still like the space, you can book it.

To add yourself to the waiting list, choose the individual class from the schedule, and click the button 'join wait list'. You do not have to pay unless you choose to take the space if it comes up. 

When the current course finishes, will people on the course get priority booking for the next block?

Yes. For sold-out courses, current customers get a minimum of 1 week priority booking to re-book their space before it is opened up to wider booking. If there are spaces available after the priority booking period, then new customers are welcome to book.
